Elegant Bay Area Golf Club Wedding Album Design by Anna Wu Photography
Holy moly, we have a stunner for you today! This album design features an elegant California golf club wedding photographed by Anna Wu Photography. We especially love the romantic portraits, the couple's adorable dog, and the beautiful green leis that celebrated the groom's Hawaiian background!
Anna is a wedding and portrait photographer based in San Francisco, but you can often find her traveling all over the country and the world. We absolutely love working with Anna and majorly swoon over her gorgeous images. For every photographer we work with, we record any special preferences or requests that come up. One thing we have on file for Anna is that she likes to retouch all of her images at the END of the album design process instead of the beginning. This doesn't fit into our typical workflow, but because Anna brought it up before we began her first design, we were able to establish an awesome game plan together! When her client approves their design, we send Anna a list of filenames that were used in the design. Then Anna sends us back a new folder of retouched images whose filenames perfectly match the list and we simply replace the existing 'Photos' folder on our computer with her new one. If this process is something you'd be interested in (or if you have another workflow roadblock you'd like to brainstorm together), feel free to bring it up before you place your next album design order!
Ok, now for the eye candy! Here are the photographs Anna sent us of this finished Red Tree album with her clients' names and wedding date debossed on a Turquoise Mist silk cover. So beautiful!!

Gorgeous South Carolina Wedding Album Design by Dana Cubbage Photography
Take a look at this lovely album design we get to show off today! This charming wedding photographed by Dana Cubbage takes place at a South Carolina plantation home and features a gold and berry purple color theme. Dana did such a great job capturing the beauty of this event -- and until I read her blog, I didn't even realize that torrential rains occurred partway through the day! Thank goodness for First Looks and pre-ceremony portraits!
Dana is a talented wedding photographer based in Charleston, SC who was sweet enough to send us photos of this album design in its printed form! Here are some photos of the Red Tree 10x10 album with a Champagne silk fabric cover. Ooh la la! Check it out below!

Oregon Ranch Wedding Album Design By Jamie Zanotti Photography
The photographs (especially the outdoor portraits) included in this album design for Jamie Zanotti Photography have my heart pitter-pattering like crazy! This beautifully in-love couple pairs oh-so-well with the stunning landscapes of Rock Springs Ranch in Bend, Oregon. It was a dream to select my favorites and highlight them in this lovely design!
You'll notice the couple's wedding logo stamp on the first spread of this album -- we love this personalized touch! We are happy to work with non-photo elements that are submitted to us as JPGs. We can just insert them into our design software as if they were a real photo -- the computer doesn't know the difference! ;)
Jamie, who is a photographer based in the Mojave Desert, sent us photographs of her printed album after she received it from WHCC. So thankful for you Jamie!!

Tropical Florida Keys Wedding Album Design by Kristen Browning Photography
We've got some eye candy for you today, folks! This album design features a gorgeous tropical wedding by Kristen Browning Photography. Kristen is a sweet and talented outdoor wedding photographer based in South Florida. This album design is perfectly representative of both her photography style and her album design preferences. In fact, she ordered TWO copies of the album from Miller's Professional Imaging -- one for the bride & groom and one that became her new sample album!
Here at Align we love customizing album designs to each photographer's requested style. However, we do realize that communicating preferences can be tricky! Some photographers can easily explain their requested style in the text of an email, which is awesome!! But many photographers find it easier to SHOW us what they like (or what they don't). We love when clients send us links to designs they've created in the past or designs they've seen online. Kristen, for example, fell in love with this Justin & Mary album design we featured on our blog and she mentioned that in the "Additional Notes" section of her next album design order form. Her designer was able to use that other album as inspiration, which resulted in an initial design that Kristen loved! So if you're looking for album design style examples, we encourage you to look through the Featured Album Designs section of Align's blog! Hint: this post you're reading right now is part of that category!
Kristen took photos of the Miller's Signature Album after she received it. Check it out below -- it turned out SO pretty!

Caroline Talbot on her Album Workflow
Today we are excited to be able to give you a peek into into the album workflow of Caroline Talbot Photography! We've been working with Caroline, a talented photographer based in Massachusetts, for about two years now. You may remember her from this Gorgeous Farm Wedding Album Design we featured on our blog awhile back. Recently we asked her to share a little about her album process, and here's what she had to say.....

Hi, I'm Caroline Talbot. I specialize in authentic wedding photography and women's portraiture. I love providing my clients with printed albums, but my biggest struggle with the process was designing them! While there is a ton of software that can easily create layouts for me, I could never quite seem to end up with a design I loved. I realized that the strength in the album is not only in the layouts, but moreso in which images are chosen for each spread. When I realized I hated designing albums, regardless of how easy the software is, I started outsourcing to Align Album Design. I would much rather spend that time shooting or with family. It's 100% worth it for the time I save alone. One of my favorite parts of Align is that they're so easy to communicate with and are always ahead of their promised deadlines! I also love knowing I can work with the same designer if I choose! Shannon is amazing at knowing exactly which images will fit perfectly together for that wow factor for an amazing album!
We shoot about 20 weddings a year and most of them purchase an album. We explain that an album is their first family heirloom and that any albums they add before the wedding include a 20% discount. We're currently working towards building packages that emphasize the importance of a printed album! After the wedding, when we deliver the images to our couples (either with a visit to the studio or through an online link), we remind them of our album design process and how each step works, and we remind them that they still can purchase a wedding album if they didn't add one to their original collection.
To start the album process, we pre-design the first draft for our clients because it's way too overwhelming for our couples to select images that will tell a story. After taking a year to select our own wedding album images, we realized we want to take that homework assignment away from our couples. Then we give them a round of changes where they can swap and change whatever they like, but they rarely change much! Our clients love the designs that Align creates! There are usually only a few revisions with mostly just small tweaks.
Our clients have two weeks to submit their revision requests or approve their album. Then I send the design files to Leather Craftsmen for printing. Their quality is amazing, and works for both our more traditional and less traditional couples. They're also always on top of customer service and will take care of you no matter what!
To photographers who want to start offering albums but are overwhelmed about where to start, I'd suggest creating a sample album of a wedding you're super proud of and have it on hand to show your clients. Don't skimp - show what you believe in! I believe in long lasting albums, so I show the best I have to offer.

Awesome! Thanks so much for sharing your insight into albums, Caroline!! You rock!
Caroline ALSO sent us photos of one of her printed albums. This is a Leather Craftsmen split edition album. It's so fun for us here at Align to see our designs in print! Here are some of our favorite spreads from this design...
