Hi photog friends! It's Melissa Jill here, pro-photographer and founder of Align Album Design.
I've recently had some valuable conversations within the photography industry surrounding albums. Most specifically, whether or not the photographers I am speaking with currently offer albums to their clients. Because I have met a number of professionals who, in my opinion, ought to be offering albums but are not yet... this seems like a worthy topic to explore! If you find yourself within this category or if you do offer albums and have influence on other professionals within the industry ... this post is for YOU!
Let's begin!
There are a lot of reasons why people think they are not at the "right place" in their business in order to offer albums to their clients. I've heard fellow photographers admit they think their business is not at the point to take this "next step" because they are just starting out or are not at the price point to offer this additional product/service. Guess what guys?
Yep, you got it!
I am here to challenge you on that!
There is no ultimate milestone that needs to be reached in order for you to be at a place where offering albums is beneficial. In fact, because albums increase your perceived value in the eyes of your clients, the sooner you can offer them ... the better! Having one great wedding that you LOVE under your belt is the only milestone I would recommend you meet before taking the plunge. This way, you have something to use when creating a sample album you are truly proud of and happy to share with your prospective clients.
For me personally, I knew it was time to start offering albums when one of my clients asked for one. After that, I scrambled to try to figure it all out! But here is the kicker ... you don't HAVE to wait for a client to ask. You can begin by offering albums up front rather than waiting for a client to be curious about them. And guess what, friends? There are ways to make the process SO much easier on yourself. Outsourcing to Align is just ONE way to help make the transition from shoot and burn to offering albums a seamless and profitable advancement within your business. Stick with us in the next couple of months and we promise to blow your mind by really helping you to simplify the seemingly big step of starting to offer albums to your clients. In the mean time, checking out my comprehensive list of tips for selling albums effectively will arm you with a ton of great information about album workflow!
The truth of the matter is, when it comes to albums: the sooner you offer them, the sooner you legitimize your business and establish it as a presence in the industry. Offering albums allows you to take your clients through a full-service experience. It enhances your brand in a tremendous way AND it impacts your income. So really, it's a no-brainer!
Let's face it, offering albums is plain smart. We all want to create an experience for our clients that will leave them raving. In addition to mastering your craft and connecting with your clients in a meaningful way ... albums are a great way to enhance your perceived value and increase your bottom line!
