Today we are excited to share with you an absolutely STUNNING design we created for the fabulous Jean Smith -- Michigan wedding photographer extraordinaire! Jean brings a refined eye for light and composition to everything she shoots and she makes our job of telling the story of a wedding day in album form SO FUN.  
 
This wedding took place at the most beautiful glass conservatory on the outskirts of Detroit. We are enamored with it and think it made the most interesting location for this high-end event. Plants and light streaming in on all sides -- yes please! 
 
Jean always sends us a mix of color and black and white photos and likes us to mix them in a balanced way throughout the spreads of the design. She typically sends us duplicate versions of many of the images in order to facilitate this -- one in color and one in black and white. We love the result!

Detroit Wedding Photographer Jean Smith is SUCH A PRO!! We have designed over 180 albums for her and each one is just so interesting and fabulous! Her eye for composition, use of light, and how she clearly connects with and sets her subjects at ease make her work a total stand-out! We're so inspired by Jean's beautiful images! 
 
The album design we are sharing with you today took place in downtown Detroit and one of our favorite parts of the day was the rooftop reception complete with fireworks! It's definitely worth clicking through the full slideshow at the end of this post to see it! 
 
All of Jean's album designs are exactly 20 spreads, which is a great length to tell the story of a wedding day. This design was finalized in less than a month from start to finish and the client used two revision rounds to make it perfect. We are smitten with how it turned out!

Jean Smith does it again!  
 
We're approaching 200 albums designed for talented Detroit wedding photographer Jean Smith in the past 12 years and have featured over 15 of our favorites on this blog.  
 
We. Cannot. Get. Enough.  
 
Jean can do no wrong. She photographs every single wedding day so flawlessly and her composition, use of light, and documentary story-telling skills always impress.  
 
The album designs we are able to create with Jean's work are definitely stand-outs. Take a look at the first spread below, for instance. We love the mix of black and white and color images, the tight and wide compositions, and how each image stands so beautifully on its own yet fits so cohesively together with the others as a unit on this filmstrip spread.

The sweet couple in today's featured wedding album design got married in front of their closest family and friends at one of their favorite restaurants in Ann Arbor, Michigan. The oh-so-talented Jean Smith photographed their day so beautifully.  
 
When it came time to design their wedding album, the couple asked Jean to pick HER favorite images from the day for the album. And this is the result! The design was finalized within 5 days and printed by Miller's Lab as a 10x10 heirloom album that they will cherish forever!  
 
This album is one of over 180 designs we have had the pleasure of creating for Jean and her clients over the past decade plus. We are SO BLESSED to work with such a talented, kind human.

Our company just celebrated a birthday last week. We've been designing albums for professional photographers since 2012. And Detroit wedding photographer Jean Smith has been with us since our inception. We have been so blessed to design close to 200 albums for her over the years and we couldn't be more smitten with her and her work! We've shared it so many times on our blog here and obviously can't get enough!  
 
Jean does a great job curating her images and habitually sends us a "Favorites" folder with her best images -- many of them with both color and black and white options. She asks us to use all of the portraits in the Favorites folder in either color or black & white (whichever works best for the design). She also sends us a separate folder of images to pull from to fill in the gaps and make the story flow. This is a best practice that we recommend to all of our photographers. It ensures that your best images will be used as focal points to anchor the design. As a result, the initial design typically hits the mark and doesn't require the photographer to submit any change requests before sending it on to their clients.  
 
This stunning design was approved and finalized in less than 2 weeks! We love helping photographers serve their clients well and get these projects over the finish line as efficiently as possible!
